An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Of course, it’s not only Wye Lea itself which is a really special place, as the Estate is set in an area formally recognised for its extraordinary beauty. As well as being a wonderful example of English countryside, it also plays host to many attractions and activities within easy reach.

Symonds Yat, for example, is only a few minutes’ drive away and, as well as offering staggeringly beautiful walks and scenery, it’s a great place to go canoeing or to take a sightseeing boat trip down the River Wye.

The Royal Forest of Dean is also just a few minutes drive away. This ancient forest offers superb walking and cycling paths as well as various activity centres and picnic areas.

Hereford is half an hour’s drive away. Included in the attractions here is the ancient Cathedral and Bulmer’s Cider Museum. Not only is it a fascinating visit, you can also taste the cider!

Shopping and great dining are also available in Hereford or, in the other direction, the spa town of Cheltenham and the cathedral city of Gloucester.

The famous market towns of Ross-on-Wye, Hay-on-Wye (famous for its book shops and literary festival) and Brecon with its Jazz Festival are within easy reach, as is the Welsh border, taking you into further spectacular scenery and places to explore.

Wye Lea has a comprehensive Tourist Information room on-site and a list of tourist attractions is given in each property. If you want to plan before you visit, you can contact the local Tourist Information Centre on 01989 562768.

We have also put together our own detailed list local activities with descriptions and contact details of providors. This is printed on Wye Lea's holiday tariff which will arrive if you request a brochure. You can also view or download a pdf of these pages here.

There really is so much to see and do in this area. There's isn't just something for everyone, there's lots of things for everyone!
